BROOKS, Calif. – It’s every golfer’s dream, forever eluding the majority of those who participate in the sport – a hole-in-one. But that elusive, seemingly unobtainable dream came true for golfer James Umamoto of Roseville on April 26 at Cache Creek Casino Resort’s Yocha Dehe Golf Club. This was no ordinary hole-in-one, however; this particular ace won him a new Ford F150 pickup truck from Elm Ford of Woodland.
Umamoto was playing in the Auburn Woodland CHP Memorial Golf Tournament. His truck-winning shot was achieved by hitting an 8 iron 165 yards into hole #4 on Yocha Dehe. This was the fourth time he had ever hit a hole-in-one., His previous three didn’t win him a $20,000 truck, though.
According to the United States Golf Association, the estimated odds of acing a hole with any given swing are one in 33,000. That puts Umamoto in quite an elite club. Fewer than a dozen hole-in-ones have been recorded at Yocha Dehe since it opened for business in January of 2008.
